Meet Brian Peltier

Brian Peltier has spent his life dedicated to the service of his country.  He served over 24 years in the US Navy as active duty as a Nuclear Enlisted Sailor and as a Naval officer.  He was recognized as Sailor of the Year for his submarine squadron and received a direct appointment as a Limited Duty Officer.  He worked for 11 years a regulatory agent for the government focusing on nuclear safety, environmental regulations, training and security.  He was highly decorated and received a Meritorious Service Medal from Admiral Caldwell for his contributions to our country in the nuclear community.  He retired in the Pittsburgh area and created a small livestock farm in Leechburg and works as a Senior Test engineer at a local business.  He volunteers in the local community at an animal shelter and makes an effort to help residents that have food insecurity due to their economic needs. His campaign is built on an unwavering commitment to protecting our natural land and natural resources while ensuring that the local community remains a vibrant and sustainable home for generations to come.  His oldest daughter currently serves in the US Navy and his youngest daughter attends college in PA.

Legislative Priorities

These are not just words I have a plan to Protect the Land

Supporting farmers and small business.

Pennsylvanians are burdened by some of the highest gas and diesel taxes in the country, with very little to show for it. No group is burdened by this more than our farmers and small businesses, the backbone of the Pennsylvania economy. I will introduce legislation to massively reduce fuel taxes.

Small livestock farmers two years ago were affected by government legislation banning the sale of common OTC medicines through a bill called GFI 263.  This banned sales of common medicines used by farmers and required a veterinarian prescription for these medicines hurting the everyday farmer.  I will work to ease these restrictions for Pennsylvanians.

Many farmers and small businesses rely on cash transactions. As the world becomes increasingly digitalized and the push to eliminate cash transactions grows, I will work to protect the cash transactions from increasing regulation.

Environmental Transparency and Public Safety

Western Pennsylvania is disproportionately affected by government approved environmental remediation projects. Residents deserve full transparency. In my own district, we currently have the nuclear waste cleanup of the Shallow Land Disposal Area. I will introduce legislation to require immediate mandatory public reporting of any potential hazardous releases tied to these projects. I will ensure citizens are informed about health risks, exposure, available recourse, and hold agencies and contractors involved in this work accountable for their damages.

I will also look to remove overly burdensome legislation for energy sources in the public space.  There are too many restrictions in PA for power and you have a right to your freedoms.

Rollback Government Overreach

Pennsylvania has many outdated and intrusive laws that infringe on personal and economic freedom of Pennsylvanians. I will introduce legislation to remove the Open Fields doctrine that allows game wardens to violate the fourth amendment and trespass on private property. I will work to eliminate outdated restrictions such as the Sunday car sales ban. I will expand free-market alcohol sales and reduce reliance on the government owned and overpriced liquor stores. I will also introduce legislation to Defend the Pennsylvania National Guard which will require a congressional declaration of war before they can be deployed abroad.

I will also vote against any infringement on 2A rights.

Fiscal Responsibility and Government Accountability

Taxpayers deserve a fiscally responsible and transparent state government. I will oppose any legislation that increases the financial burden on working families. I will fight to ensure that responsible balanced budgets are passed on time. I will demand accountability for any large government projects that exceed budgets and automatically investigate any project exceeding 120% of its original cost estimate. I will introduce legislation for stricter oversight to prevent waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement of all taxpayer money.

Overall, I don't see any reason why taxpayers need to pay more for less.  We have some of the highest gas taxes, but our roads are generally in the top 10 or 15 worst roads in the US.  I don't agree with anything that will burden the taxpayer any longer until we can be responsible with our money.
